To strengthen our company portfolio our M&A team is looking for a highly motivated intern to map M&A opportunities in the Philippines and surrounding countries



What will you do

As an M&A Business Developer Intern, you will identify M&A prospects. You will search and contact valuable M&A prospects, who have built an attractive business, to increase the M&A pipeline for the long term. You have the opportunity to converse with experienced entrepreneurs of M&A target companies.

As an M&A Business Developer Intern, you contribute to the pre-acquisition business activities in order to grow our company portfolio in the Philippines and surrounding countries. You will find and reach out to companies in the software sector.

Activities will include mapping, analyzing, and registering vertical market software companies and initiating contact (via email, phone, video calling, or otherwise) with potential M&A targets in the Philippines and surrounding countries.

You will be based in the Netherlands, initially in Nieuwegein. It can become partly home-based (as experience grows). You are also part of a broader international M&A team.

Our ideal candidate is representative, has excellent communication skills in the Pilipino language and English language, a fair degree of financial literacy, and strong analytical skills. You feel comfortable conversing with experienced entrepreneurs of M&A target companies. You are entrepreneurial and proactive in your mindset, yet also methodological in your approach.

The internship

  • Grow our M&A prospect database in the Philippines and surrounding countries by identifying vertical market software (VMS) businesses meeting our acquisition criteria.
  • Initiate outbound prospecting (phone and video) calls, email, and social media communication to identify and connect with new M&A target companies.
  • Visit trade shows and industry events in the Philippines in order to initiate contacts with prospective targets.
  • Use Marketing and CRM data to build relationships with key stakeholders and maintain them.
  • Follow up on outbound and inbound M&A prospect activities in a timely manner.
  • Conduct first-line interactions with companies (primarily by telephone and face to face), in order to qualify potential targets.
  • Document meetings/ interactions in form of notes, interactions and administer efforts in Salesforce (our CRM system).


Who are we looking for

  • Independent & proactive worker, who can also work in a team.
  • Commercial skills and sales affinity, ability to establish contact with senior executives at M&A target companies who are unfamiliar with our company.
  • Interest in and preferably knowledge of Finance and IT.
  • Ability to work on targets.
  • Able to write professional e-mails in Pilipino and English language and has good telephone skills.
  • Eagerness to learn.
  • Experienced in (online) research

Internship requirements

  • Studying Bachelor's or (almost finished your) Master's degree preferably but not mandatory in Business Administration, Economics/Accounting, Sales, Commercial Sciences, or Marketing Management.
  • 0-2 years experience in business development or sales roles.
  • Ability to understand financial concepts.
  • Fluent in (Business) Filipino language and English
